I'm kind of a lighting snob. When I am working or reading, I want light, and lots of it. Even if there is an overhead light on, I want a task light to illuminate my workspace.

Usually task lights are big with articulated limbs so you can horn in on what you are doing. And those kinds of lights are fine, but sometimes you want something simpler. Just a little bit of ambient light to tucked into the corner of the desk.
