NieNie - Phase II: The Design Process

Now that the demo is done and the new built-in's are in place, our story is starting to thicken! This once unused kitchen in  NieNie's basement now needs to become a place for Claire, Jane, Christopher and Ollie to discover, learn and play!

We'd like to introduce you to our leading role! He is a tree trunk of a table called Rocco, and he is accompanied by a pretty bird chandelier! The backdrop is that of a stylized leaves, also known as wallpaper, and the front row seats are sunlit amber ghost chairs! Can you see it?!? I can... and it's breathtaking!

And here it is! This is what we are hoping for with the final product! Stay tuned to see the final photos!

NieNie- Phase II: Cabinetry Install

With the old cabinets removed in Stephanie's basement, it was time to bring in the fresh, new and improved cabinets with the rich walnut countertop! Mark Magleby, the real-estate guy, and Chad Magleby, the president of Magleby Construction, did a great job at taking these cabinets out but you have to see the amazing job they did at building the cabinets and installing them!

You can already see the transformation that these cabinets are going to have on this room. Here are the guys hard at work.

And the magic begins... Didn't the Magleby's do an amazing job?

So what's next you ask? Well, there's paint, wallpaper, curtains, furniture and accessories... Check back tomorrow to see the pieces that will make up this room!

NieNie - Phase II: The Before's and Demo

You may recall, back in August, we began and completed the first phase of our project with our dear friend Stephanie Nielson from NieNie Dialogues. In case you missed it, you can view the transformation here. Beautiful, right? And because we adore being near her and her family so very much we decided that it was time for Phase II: The Basement Kitchen with the yellow cabinets turned Play Room!

As you can see, the room already has a very charming atmosphere to it, but was simply in need of an ounce more function and an invitation for her kids to come in and play. More whimsy! More enchantment! More Nielson please!!!

Mark & Chad Magleby

When it came to the function we honestly could not have taken on such a detailed project without these two very talented, skilled individuals. They are absolutely amazing and sure do know how to tear out cabinets. But just wait to see the amazing things they can do when building and putting new and improved cabinets back in!

We're bubbling over with excitement as this project gets underway! Now that the old cabinets are out and the rebuilding phase begins, stay tuned to watch this wonderland begin to take shape!!!

St. George Model Home - Cypress

Introducing Cypress - this is the second model home in the Escapes at Entrada in St. George. The style of this home is more traditional with warm colors and rich, dark wood tones. A lovely welcome home!

Great Room - A gorgeous linen sectional is accented with a metal trunk and one of our favorites - the spool chair! The Robert armoire by Oly Studio sits next to the fireplace with a stunning antiqued mirror front.

Dark wood cabinets juxtaposed with linen dining chairs and barstools brings a lighter, more airy feel to this traditional space.

The Master Bedroom feels luxurious with a silk accented organic print rug. The dark woods contrast the light walls nicely with accents of gold in the artwork and lamps.

This secondary bedroom relates back to the Great Room with these matching spool nightstands and a beautiful upholstered headboard accented with French Brass nailheads.

The bathroom adjacent to the secondary bedroom has a touch of whimsy with a brightly colored floral rug, butterflies and a ruffled shower curtain.

The Parade of Homes runs through February 27th so if you haven't made it down to see them you still have the rest of this week and the weekend! Hope to see you there!

What's in Store - Elisabeth Cabinet

A lovely place to show off collectibles, linens or china. The Oly Elisabeth Cabinet is shown above with a glass front and antiqued mirrored back in a chalk finish. We have this exact piece in the store!

Elisabeth Glass Cabinet 46"W x 20.5"D x 89"H $4,271

The Elisabeth also comes as an entertainment unit with a mirrored front as seen in Domino Magazine. Both come with 3 finish options - Antique White, Chalk, and Dark Brown with Gold or Silver Accents as options.

Private Residence - Mid-Century Modern Home

Take a step back in time. A time when things were more simple, with clean lines and simple patterns. For this particular client, this is what we had to recreate. This home was owned by a very accomplished and influential inventor who was the grandfather of our client. Her father had grown up in this house and it was very important to the family that it be restored and the mid-century modern look that her father had grown up with was replicated. The family will now be using this home as a guest house for family members and business associates can stay when visiting from out of town. It took some great research to select the perfect pieces but as you can see, well worth the time!

All of the finishes were restored to feel like the same home that our clients grandfather and father lived in.

Such an iconic piece, the Eames Chair would have been the perfect piece for such an influential inventor.

This Martha Stewart rug offers a subtle pop of color to the dining room.

Oly Studio's Gigi Chair, with it's sleek lines, compliments this marble topped breakfast table.

The Master Bedroom has a calming feel with white bedding and accessories.

No room for a lamp? Just add a sconce for adequate reading light.

The Oly Studio Noel lounge chair is perfect tucked in the corner.

We loved selecting the furniture, lamps and a few rugs! The girls over at Opal Never Shouts provided accessories, artwork and window treatments. It was so rewarding to get everything just right in this home.

St. George - Parade of Homes

So here it is... The preview we have been promising for the past few weeks! Enter the lovely Spyglass, the Parade Home, at The Escapes at Entrada. We love the entryway to this home! The gate leads you in past the Casita, giving you a sneak peak of what to expect in the house, the cozy patio and to the front door. Robert McArthur, the architect of these homes, did a wonderful job of creating a sort of excitement just walking to the front door.

The gray velvet sofa sits atop this beautiful blue rug along with one of our favorites, the Cisco Brothers Pouf in the Great Room. A chaise, for lounging, along with an Arteriors Twig Table make for a comfortable and stylish place to sit.

This Oly Emma Armchair in Raffia is the perfect side chair for this setting.

The Kitchen counter - Oh those cookies! Such a pretty and sweet treat! Robert McArthur's "Creative Spaces for Cooks" cookbook adorns the counter.

The Dining area has a beautiful view of the red rock that sits behind the home!

The Office - What a grand room to view as you walk through the door of Spyglass.

Turtle shells line the wall behind the desk.

Master Bedroom - What more could anyone want than an Oly Studio upholstered headboard in a gray faux bois silk! Maybe add a petite linen bench with a luxurious throw and yes, that will complete the room!

Master Bedroom This Cisco Brothers linen slipcovered bed  is dressed with this great striped Pinecone Hill duvet by Annie Selke in this secondary bedroom.

The Casita is a private little getaway from the main part of the home with it's own kitchenette and bath.

Please excuse our iPhone photos! We were brimming with excitement and couldn't wait for professional photos to share with you. Make sure to come to the Parade and see everything in person and the other two model homes that are just as gorgeous!

Check back here later this week for photos of the model homes!

The Making of a Home

We posted a few preview photos of our install in St. George. We have three homes that we are installing - one is the Parade Home and there are two model homes. Unpacking the pieces, placing and primping them is what makes everything come together. These pieces are what is bringing the Parade Home together.

The St. George Parade of Homes is February 18th - 27th. The two model homes that we have installed are in the same neighborhood and will be open as well. Check back tomorrow to see how this all fits together to make something special!

Wish You Were Here...

We are in St. George getting ready for the Parade of Homes. We have been working with Henry Walker Homes on their most recent project down south - The Escapes at Entrada. We have been working on this home and two other model homes in this new community for several months, selecting interior finishes, furniture, fabrics, and finishing touches... and now it's time to put everything together. The Parade Home and two other model homes will open on February 18th. Here is just a sneak peak at the space and what we have been doing.

These two homes are the model homes.

This is the entrance to the Parade Home... As you walk to the front door, you see the Casita on your left as well as a little patio. It looks great lit up at night!

This is the Parade Home's Kitchen, Dining and Great Room area. You can see a little preview of the furniture that's going to go in the home.

Stay tuned for more photos and progress!!!

Iconography Installation

We are so lucky to have recently received this showstopper in the store!

This piece is by Iconography Inc. It is designed in the Art Nouveau style and in-laid plaster is the material used. This piece was something that Iconography had been itching to do. They loved the design and had been waiting for the right project to use it on. There was still no home for it when they were asked to participate in a home show and then the idea of this panel came about.

This is the piece installed in the home show.

Come see this beautiful piece in person!

Just Shorn & Alt Summit

We are so grateful to Just Shorn for sponsoring our ticket to this year's Alt Summit. We learned so much and met so many talented and wonderful people there.

We had the opportunity to spend a day with the Just Shorn bunch, many who had flown over from New Zealand, and learn about their line of wool rugs and carpets. We were so impressed by the quality of their products. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of the sheep farmers, Howie. He was such a delight to talk with them and we learned so much from him!

Just Shorn Fun Facts - Wool can stretch 30% to 40% without breaking. - Wool has a natural crimp with millions of coiled molecules. This allows wool carpet and rugs to retain their shape; even under heavy foot traffic. - Wool has a natural waxy outer membrane that repels most soils and liquids but can still absorb up to on-third its weight in moisture reducing static and making it flame resistant. - Wool has good insulation qualities for superior warmth and softness under foot. - Wool is derived from a 100% renewable resource and is completely biodegradable at the end of it's useful life.

American Express Photo Shoot

When Adam and I were in the beginning stages of pursuing our dream to open a furniture/design shop, I saw a commercial for the American Express Plum Card (for small businesses). I said, "I want one!" It was one of those 'believe in the dream' moments when you realize you can cross over from the little idea in your head to the real deal. So... Adam applied for the card, and surprised me with it when it came! We've been using our card for almost 3 years now, and were delighted to get a phone call from the people at American Express to see if they could interview us for a possible campaign they are doing for the Amex Plum Card! Of course we said yes!

We went through rounds of phone interviews with their ad agency, only to find out about 2 months ago that we were chosen!

So yesterday, they came to do the shoot! They brought their crew of 10+ people. A most interesting experience... one that I will never forget.

Our photographer was Christopher Sturman. He had a great sense of humor and a "soothing voice" as Christy would say. He is a very talented photographer and showed us a few of his other projects that he had done. Here's a sample of what he's done:

Aren't these amazing? And we were able to have him photograph us!!!

Laurie Trott is a stylist from New York. She made sure that we had just the right clothing on and that it sat just right in every shot.

Laurie Vukich was our make-up and hair for the day. She did a fabulous job making sure that our hair was perfect and our make-up was touched up.

On the right is Diane Keh. She was the project manager for this shoot and was really great to work with.

Thanks to everyone for being so much fun and so easy to work with!

We can't wait to see what the outcome will be in the moths to come... We'll keep you posted! Hope you've enjoyed these few shots of all of the action. We sure had fun with the wardrobe and setting changes. What are your favorite settings or outfits from the day?
