Inspiration in Fall Style
/Fall is in the air, and we couldn't be happier! Next week, here in Utah, the weather is finally supposed to be cooling down so we can put on our layers! We've been flipping through J.Crew's September lookbook for some inspiration.
We love a good stripe. Keep the palette dark to transition into fall.
Keep your layers simple for a more relaxed look.
Add plaid. Who doesn't love a good plaid especially done on a wool?
Keep it neutral. We love neutrals for fall. Pick darker taupes and cognac for a lovely fall palette. Add in indigo or black to create some drama.

Fall Scents
/If there's something I could tell you about myself that would surprise you it is that I have this secret burning wish to live in the country. No neighbors for at least a mile, orchards and gardens surrounding me on 3 sides and the fourth side is a huge covered porch. Of course this dream includes a handsome hard-working man. This man would have a den and his den would smell like our Big Sky candle. It's a masculine mix of sagebrush, fresh air, and amber wood. A perfect scent for fall. Sit back, open the windows and enjoy!
On the other end of the scent spectrum you'll find our Cilantro Orange Kitchen candle. This has a bright, fresh scent with a tangy undertone. I love that it's so clean and fresh yet still introduces an autumnal feel. This one is perfect for a Saturday afternoon of chores and getting your home ready for fall.
Stop in and pick out your favorite fall scent!

/I don't know about you, but fall is my favorite season! There, I said it! The colors, the scents, and the clothes... oh, the clothes... nubby, warm, cozy, and classic. Which may explain why I'm currently crushing on the Gerston slipcovered bed. It's all that you could want in a classic fall silhouette, but it's on your bed, people! Made of soft felted wool, with clean, classic lines, this bed is the ultimate spot to curl up with a good book. Fall bedroom makeover... done. And even better, the Gerston is part of The Very Best Sale! So until October 4th, he's 20% off. You're welcome!
Accessorizing for Fall
/Have you gone outside recently and felt a little crispness in the air? How about the leaves on the trees? Have they begun to turn colors in your neck of the woods? Whether we like it or not, summer is blowing its last breath and fall is stepping around the corner. Personally, I love fall and everything it brings. The darker rich tones are a personal favorite and I love bringing fall inside with those colors through accessories.
Don’t think that fall accessories have to be red, orange, and yellow. Think antique gold, burnished pewter, and deep bronze to add a sophistication to a room.
Change bright colored objects for rich tones of deep walnut, dark cherry, or grey reclaimed wood that will give a space a sense of history.
Mix pieces that are clean and crisp with antique family heirlooms.
Cut some fall branches, rich berries, or decorative grasses from the yard and place them in one of grandpa’s old trophies, a tarnished mint julep cup, or a seeded glass jar.
So, bring on the fall and let her step inside your home a little! I promise, you will be glad she came for a visit.

/Autumn is coming, and we couldn't be happier! Don't get me wrong, I love the heat, pool days, and lemonade, but mostly I can't wait for boots, hot chocolate, and layers! Fall also brings The Very Best Sale when all upholstery and casegoods are 20% off. Which means this was the perfect opportunity to spotlight this cozy lady.
This Ellis sofette is so sleek, so sophisticated, and so yummy. Perfect for a cozy autumn day inside with your favorite Netflix marathon and pumpkin spice whatever. Better yet, she's 20% off!
Must-Have Fall Textiles
/Because your home deserves to be well-dressed too, consider doing a little back-to-school shopping to take your fall look from geek to chic. Here's our list of must-haves.
Deeper darker hues are making an appearance in clothing stores, so why not bring them back into your decor too? A few jewel-toned throw pillows whether solid or patterned can transform your sofa.
It's time to start cuddling up in style. Ditch that shapeless Snuggie and replace it with a pretty throw to keep you warm when the weather gets cooler. Think chunky cable knit or drapey cashmere.
You know those beautiful leather boots you bought for fall? Your living room is feeling more than a little jealous and craving leather too. You can add leather with a layered hide on top of your rug or even a leather pouf nestled under a coffee table.

Fall Into a Fall Bedroom
/As the temperatures start (or, considering the weather we had this August, continue) to drop, our thoughts are naturally turned to the long anticipated return of sweater weather. And as designers are apt to do, we like to think not only about changing our wardrobes, but also how we can update our personal spaces to meet the coziness cravings that come with the approaching season.
Our very favorite (and super simple!) way to transform your most personal space is with textiles. Swapping out your crisp cottons shams for a pair of plush, velvety covers is akin to rotating your summery linen blazer for a felted wool version.
Make sure to consider the functional layers on your bed as well, adding in additional throw blankets as needed. One faux fur throw would do the trick, but also consider a pair of coordinating wool textured blankets – they will increase flexibility for your slumbering temps, and will give your room a sophisticated and curated feel.
Extra style points if you can take a usually bright color scheme a shade or two darker for the cooler months: from red to oxblood, or from Kelly green to emerald. Again, this is simple to do with pillows and bedding. But to push the look even farther, consider adjusting your bedside floral arrangements: go for darker jewel tones and glossy dark green leaves.
Finally, we always use a delicious candle to complete a bedside table. And for fall we really love woodsy, earthy flavors. A stylist favorite is Voluspa’s Goji Tarocco Orange, which is citrusy with a subtle pine undertone - perfect for the transition out of summer, and to anticipate the shift to the holiday season. Come into either of our retail locations and fall in love with this flavor too!

/I'm kind of a lighting snob. When I am working or reading, I want light, and lots of it. Even if there is an overhead light on, I want a task light to illuminate my workspace.
Usually task lights are big with articulated limbs so you can horn in on what you are doing. And those kinds of lights are fine, but sometimes you want something simpler. Just a little bit of ambient light to tucked into the corner of the desk.
I am in love with the Terri lamp by Thomas O'Brien. Small, sleek, modern and stylish. It's amazing in crystal, but also comes in solid alabaster and brass. Come in and check it out and let us help you lighten up your workspace.
Collections in an Office
/I can’t imagine a better place to display collections then your home office. A collection reflects your passions, interests and hobbies and whether you’re an Olympic swimmer or an avid rock collector, I want you to use your office to show off who YOU are!
One client of ours continues to gather and collect small items and books from their world travels and proudly displays them on the center table in their study. It's handsome and interesting and forever evolving!
Another keeps foreign currency and inspiring notions on her desk to remind her of the places she’s been.
Even if it’s the color pink that you collect-plaster the walls and layer the place in blush and bashful to reflect your loves!
Show off your art, trophys, rocks and pink proudly!
Happy collecting!

/I love this drafting table for it's versatility. The top can be adjusted to lie flat like a traditional desk, or it can sit at an angle. Since its a taller desk, a barstool makes a perfect perch or when working on a more hands-on task, this is the perfect stand-up desk. It's the perfect spot to sketch, paint, and draft of course!
Styling a Bookcase
/The most striking offices always feature a well-styled bookcase, wouldn’t you agree? It’s the best way to make a grand statement and create that inspiring and intellectual atmosphere that an office craves. So why is it that bookcases often become either a catch-all for little trinkets or just an empty eye-sore? Try these tips to give that bookcase a face-lift and take it from drab to fab.
LAYER ART If you are having a tough time filling those bookshelves, try layering in art to fill the negative space and add depth. You can also mount artwork to the front of a bookcase for unexpected dimension and interest.
GROUP YOUR BOOKS If you are an avid reader and need all of that space for books, you can make a strong impact just by grouping them by size or color. Line your books up vertically, create horizontal stacks, or mix it up for a more relaxed look.
INCORPORATE ACCESSORIES An office is the perfect place to display your favorite treasures. Whether it’s the souvenir you picked up on your last big trip or a gift you received from someone special, integrate items that are meaningful to you. Adding in accessories with unifying features (color, shape, etc.) is a great rule-of-thumb to follow to introduce variety without it feeling too cluttered.
